Thesis binding is a specialised business so you should be wary of ‘bookbinders’ who have no experience binding theses. It is worth shopping around as costs can vary significantly. Some companies offer an online service.

It is also a good idea to go to the library and check the inside covers of theses, to see if they contain the name of the binder. That way you get to see the quality of the finished product as well.

Please note that PhD and MPhil must adhere to GRS guidelines for binding (scroll down to section 7.1.9). Requirements for binding of Masters by Research theses can vary across faculties, so check with your administrative officer for details.

Below is a list of thesis binders in Melbourne and Sydney. This is by no means a complete list of thesis binders, feel free to “google” others – we make no recommendation for any particular bindery.

For DE graduate students or for those who can’t get to a bindery in person, the whole process can usually be managed by email – check with your preferred binder.

The MGA team

Got a question or request about anything at all? Get in contact with one of our staff members – we’d love to hear from you. Alternatively, drop by the MGA office at Clayton or Caulfield so we can help!

Meet your current elected representatives

Curious to know who’s representing you at the moment? Get to know your elected representatives, what they do and how you can get involved.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
