Background

I started my Bachelors in Biomedical science at Monash in 2017 where I had little involvement in non-academic activities. As an international student it felt so daunting to come to a new country and try to find good connections, manage my studies and have a social life. After completing my honours year I discovered my passion for microbiology and decided to continue my research project. Because I was determined to make the best of my university life, I started volunteering with the MGA and it sparked a desire in me to do more to support graduate students.

I joined the MGAEC so I could positively impact students’ lives and it has been an incredible and rewarding journey through my last year on the committee. Initiatives I undertook include campaigning for the RTP stipend increase, organising events to support mental health and career education support. I look forward to another year of advocating for the graduate students at Monash through collective leadership and teamwork.

Personal Interests

My favorite activities include playing badminton (mainly at the weekly MGA sessions), cruising a lane at the Doug Ellis swimming pool and cycling. When I am feeling less active I love curling up with a 600 page fantasy-fiction novel at a coffee shop.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
