Call for participation: Respect at Monash focus group

We're looking for HDR students to take part in a focus group on sexual harm and gender-based violence policies at Monash

Your safety is our top priority. That's why we're conducting a focus group for HDRs to provide feedback on their experiences with the policies and processes surrounding the prevention of sexual harm and gender-based violence at Monash on Wednesday, 2 October 2024.

We are specifically interested  in the experiences of HDR students, who often navigate multiple roles within the University — as teaching associates, lecturers, research assistants or sessional staff — while managing their PhD studies. We understand that this can bring about a unique set of challenges which may dissuade HDR students to report incidents of this nature. Your feedback can help us to form better protections around this.

Respect at Monash

The Respect at Monash Committee focuses on preventing sexual harm and gender-based violence on campus at a University-wide level. Key discussion points at meetings include the implementation of the Strategic Commitment to Sexual Harm Prevention and Response (2024-2030), aligning with the broader National Action Plan Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Higher Education, as well as reviewing the annual report against these goals. The committee aims to create a safer environment on campus by strengthening policies and support services, increasing awareness and educating the University community as a whole on these critical issues.
