Exam results and appeals

Congratulations to everyone who passed the semester with flying colours! However, if you didn’t get the results you were expecting, read on to find out more about your options.

First of all, please don’t panic! We all have our ups and downs and these things happen. Below are some pathways you can take to address this.

Seeking feedback

If you want to work out how you came to a result, you can request feedback to see how you did on your assessment. This page can guide you through this process.

Remission of debt and WDN

In exceptional circumstances, students who fail a unit may be eligible for either a refund or to have their grade changed to Withdrawn (WDN). Strict criteria applies - you must be able to demonstrate with proof that circumstances were outside of your control.

You can read more about each via the links below:

In each case, we recommend you get advice from one of our advocates before applying. Please note that there are deadlines you must apply by.

If you're considering applying for a remission of debt or a WDN grade, get in touch with an advocate today!

If you failed a unit and you need to extend the duration of your course, simply fill out this form to request course advice.

If you’re looking for ways to improve next semester and get better results, you might want to get in touch with your teacher or tutor for advice. Additionally, the University provides the following resources to help you:

Visa/migration advice

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
