While all of us wish when starting a Masters that nothing will go wrong, that is often not the case. Sometimes you will encounter problems and issues you do not expect, and a speedy and appropriate response can make the difference between relief and disaster.

With stories based on real-life student experiences, MGA student advocates Sarah and Ying will run you through some of the most common unexpected situations faced by Masters students and give you the tools to manage and respond to the unexpected. Prevent small obstacles from derailing your hard-work and progress, and help not only yourselves but your friends around you.

Sarah is a student advocate who has worked at MGA since 2015, and in advocacy since 2017. She also studied her Master degree at Monash and remembers all too well the highs and lows of being a graduate student! Sarah has assisted hundreds of students with all sorts of problems - big and small - and she's keen to share her knowledge to help you all.

Pizza will be served at the session.

Registrations will open 2 weeks before event date.

THIS EVENT ALIGNS WITH THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS OF:

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
