Sitting an assessment remotely: changes to eligibility criteria

If you're sitting an on-campus eExam, read on

As we approach exam time, we thought we’d let you know about some changes the University has made to the rules. If you have an upcoming on-campus eExam that you were hoping to sit remotely, please pay close attention to the details below.

As a general rule, on-campus eExams must be taken in person at the designated venue on campus. This means that you are no longer allowed to elect to take such an exam remotely, from home, overseas or elsewhere, unless it's for the following reasons:

  1. participating in a Monash-facilitated program overseas at the time of your scheduled final assessment (e.g. GIG, Monash Global Campus Intensives)

  2. participating in mandatory military service at the time of your scheduled final assessment (supporting documentation required).

Unfortunately, this means that illness (including COVID-19) and travel plans will not be considered as valid reasons to sit an exam remotely. While we know that illness is outside of your control, we strongly advise that you not make arrangements to travel until your assessment period is over.

If you are a student registered with the DSS, please speak to your Disability Advisor if you think you may need to sit your exam remotely.

The rules for sitting off-campus exams haven’t changed. You can read more about that here.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
