AGM 2025

About the MGA's Annual General Meeting and notice of motions

Every year the MGA runs an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where our Executive Committee members report to the graduate student community on the work they have carried out over the last year. The AGM is also an opportunity for the MGA to hear from graduate students with concerns or questions about the MGA or Monash University. All graduate students at Monash are welcome to attend.

Any changes to the MGA constitution must be approved by an AGM, and as such, must be raised as formal motions prior to the meeting if they are to be considered and discussed at the AGM. All motions received will be published on the website two weeks ahead of the AGM.

There will also be a casual discussion at the end of the AGM where graduate students can discuss their Monash experience or provide feedback to the MGA, without the need for a formal motion.

How can I table a motion for the AGM?

Any graduate students wishing to raise a motion at the AGM should do so via the motion submission form by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 7 May 2025.

  • What is a motion? A motion is a formal proposal made by a Monash graduate student in regards to the Monash Graduate Association.

  • Who is the mover? The mover is the graduate student who submits the motion.

  • Who is the seconder? The seconder is a second graduate student who supports the motion. You can find a seconder before you submit your motion, or you can submit the motion without a seconder and the Chair will ask for a seconder at the AGM.

Students can submit their motion/s by downloading the Word doc form below. Only motions submitted to the MGA by the due date will be accepted. The motions will be published on this page 14 days prior to the meeting.

Motion submissions have closed.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
