MGA Advocacy: ChatGPT – Know what you’re getting into

ChatGPT and other generative AI tools are amazing, but we have to be careful about how we use them at Monash University.

Have you used ChatGPT to answer your questions, and been amazed at its response? The MGA Advocacy team is starting to see students seeking help after using it for assignments in a way that is prohibited at Monash.

Don’t stress, you can use generative AI technologies at Monash, but there are a few rules and boundaries you need to know. Here are two tips:

  • When you submit an assignment on Moodle, the rules and boundaries will be explained. Read these instructions carefully.
  • Read through, and get familiar with, the information on Monash’s Learning and Teaching page here.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
