Join the MGA for an exciting Zoo adventure with your friends and family during the mid-semester break!
The MGA is offering Monash graduate students (PhD, Masters, Grad Dip, Grad Cert) the opportunity to unwind, socialise, and experience the magic of wildlife up close!
If that’s not reason enough for you to come along, we’ve got more. The MGA is offering heavily discounted prices for Monash graduate students and their partner or friend, and free entry for children of Monash graduate students! Read on for the details.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis so be quick to book your tickets!

Location: Melbourne Zoo, Elliott Avenue, Parkville, Victoria 3052
Pick Up Location: Caulfield or Clayton Campus
Monash graduate student: $15
Adult (not a Monash graduate student): $30
Children (2-18 years): Free
Infants (0 – 2 years): Free
Ticket prices are heavily subsidised by the MGA, so this is a great deal! But remember to book quickly as limited spots are available.
What does a Ticket include?
- 🚌 Round-trip Transportation: Buses will be available from both the Caulfield and Clayton Campuses.
- 🦓 Zoo Entry: Get ready to explore a world of wildlife with full access to the zoo’s fascinating exhibits and attractions.
- 🪑 Private Function Space: Enjoy a designated area for our group to rest and relax.
- 🥗 Light Vegetarian Lunch & Refreshments: You’ll definitely be hungry after all the walking and gawking!

Schedule (Tentative)
9:15 am: Arrive at the campus you selected on your ticket: (Clayton or Caulfield).
9:30 am: Depart from the nominated campus (Clayton or Caulfield) by bus.
10:30 am: Arrive at Melbourne Zoo.
10:30 am – 3:30 pm: Explore the Zoo at your own pace.
12:00 – 1:30 pm: Lunch.
3:30 pm: Depart from Melbourne Zoo.
4:30 pm: Arrive back at your nominated campus.
Conditions of Entry
- Graduate students must present their Trybooking ticket at the door/bus.
- Those with a partner/friend/child ticket must be attending with a Monash graduate student.
- All graduate students and their respective partners/friends/child(ren) are expected to comply with the MGA Zoo 2023 Terms and Conditions. Should there be a breach of the terms and conditions, students and their party may be asked to leave the Zoo.
Terms and Conditions
- Tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the event is full, you will be added to a waitlist.
- Tickets include transport to and from the Zoo (Clayton and Caulfield), entry into the zoo and a light lunch. Students will nominate their pick-up and drop-off location in the trybooking link. (Students from Peninsula are advised to catch the Monash shuttle bus to Clayton campus to board the bus there.)
- Only 1 Non-Monash Adult ticket can be bought per party.
- All children under the age of 18 are free, but please specify if they are an infant so that we can cater appropriately.
- The zoo and buses are all very accessible, so please feel free to bring in prams.
- Students are responsible for their own actions and the actions of those in their party. The MGA will not be responsible for any inappropriate actions such as jumping into an animal enclosure.
- All ticket sales are final. No refunds are allowed.

COVID-Safe Guidelines
When attending an MGA event, remember that:
- Face masks are strongly recommended indoors and outdoors where physical distancing can’t be maintained.
- MGA will have masks available for attendees who request them.
- Physical distancing (1.5 metres) should be observed where possible.
- Practising good hand and basic hygiene can help to slow the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses.
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last five days or are displaying symptoms associated with COVID-19, we ask that you do not attend the event. Remember to follow all Victorian State Government guidelines and report your positive result on the University’s COVID-19 reporting form.
