Vacancies on the MGA Executive Committee

We have two vacancies on the MGAEC! If you're interested in representing your graduate student community read on...

The MGA Executive Committee governs the Monash Graduate Association by setting policy and providing broad direction. The committee’s aims are to serve the interests and welfare of graduate students at Monash by directing activities and projects towards their specific needs.

Does this sound like something you would like to be part of?

We would love to hear from you if you are:

  • someone with good ideas, initiative and drive;
  • willing to make important decisions and want your voice heard at a university level; 
  • passionate about making a difference within the graduate student community; and
  • a commitment to attending all of the MGAEC meetings for the year
  • meet the criteria to fill one of the two roles listed below.

There is currently two positions available with a term of office from the time of appointment to 30 June 2026. Read on for more information about these positions.

 

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

1 x General Representative (International Students' Officer OB role)

General Representatives may contribute by attending the monthly MGAEC meetings, contributing to decision making and voting on issues of concern, conducting background research to support an MGA submission, liaising with graduate students to find out what the current issues are, contributing to one of the many subcommittees, and volunteering at an MGA event. This vacancy is for a General Representative who is interested in taking up the International Students' Officer OB role. Therefore, applicants MUST be an international student.

Section 14 of the MGA Constitution outlines the International Students' Officer full position description and eligibility criteria.

 

1 x Caulfield Campus Representative

The Campus Representative is responsible for liaising with office-bearers regarding campus-based issues, convening and chairing an advisory group of campus-bsed graduates, and initiating campus-based activities and events for the purpose of improving the graduate experience at Monash University. Applicants MUST be enrolled at Caulfield campus.

Interested?

  • Successful applicants will hold office until 30 June 2026 and will receive training to fulfill your role on the MGAEC.
  • All applications must be made via the MGAEC co-option form (below) and emailed to Janice Boey at Janice.Boey@monash.edu. Any further questions about the vacant positions can also be directed to this email. 
  • Applicant must be available to attend an MGAEC meeting as an observer. The date and time of the next MGAEC meeting are TBC, but will likely be in mid to late February.
  • Co-options are considered and approved by the MGAEC. 
  • Applications close on 5:00pm on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
