The MGA hosted its annual ceremony at the Clayton campus one morning in Feb to celebrate the lecturers who work hard to educate and inspire their graduate students.
On a Wednesday morning like any other, MGA Vice President Vidhi Agarwal addressed the room:
“We are delighted to see such a strong turnout this morning. The Lecturer of the Year Awards represent a significant milestone in the MGA calendar and reflect the collective voice of the postgraduate student community.”
She went on to announce a very surprised and appreciative Mr Peter Brown from the Faculty of Information Technology as the MGA's Lecturer Of The Year (LOTY)!
Mr Brown had been nominated by a former student named Aakash Saraf. Of his favourite lecturer, Aakash had to say:
"Peter possesses a rare ability to translate high-level corporate strategy into actionable advice for a student project. His extensive professional background is not just theoretical; he applies it directly to our challenges, acting as the perfect business and strategic mentor.”
Also in attendance was Professor Helen Purchase, Head of the HCC Department of which Mr Brown proudly belongs. Professor Purchase highlighted how wonderful it was to see her colleague recognised for the fantastic work he contributes to the department and their entire student cohort.
The MGA's Lecturer of the Year (LOTY) Award was created precisely to recognise lecturers like Mr Brown and all the work that they do, as well as countless others who go above and beyond to lead their students to success.
