The MGA Executive Committee governs the Monash Graduate Association by setting policy and providing broad direction. The committee’s aims are to serve the interests and welfare of graduate students at Monash by directing activities and projects towards their specific needs.

Does this sound like something you would like to be part of?

  • someone with good ideas, initiative and drive;

  • willing to make important decisions and want your voice heard at a university level; 

  • passionate about making a difference within the graduate student community; and

The MGA is seeking to co-opt a graduate Indigenous student into the role of Indigenous Students' Officer on the MGA Executive Committee (MGAEC).

 

Current Opportunity: Indigenous Students' Officer

The Indigenous Students' Officer is responsible for liaising with the appropriate Indigenous bodies in order to maximise the participation of Indigenous students in higher education, and ensuring that the concerns of Indigenous graduates are brought to the attention of the MGAEC. More details about the role and responsibilities can be found in the MGA Constitution.

 

Good to know:

  • The term of office will run from the time of appointment to 30 June 2026.
  • The successful applicant will receive governance training to support them in the role.
  • MGAEC members are expected to attend monthly meetings and the AGM. Many also contribute to sub-committees or assist with MGA social events. Further information about time commitment of being on the MGAEC can be found on our Executive Committee FAQ page.

  • All applicants must attend an MGAEC meeting as an observer (either in person or via Zoom). The next meeting will be held in the last week of September (date and time to be confirmed).
