Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your area of study?

I’m an international student from China, currently studying for a Master’s degree in Food Science and Agribusiness at Monash University. My academic interests include sustainable food innovation, nutrition, and the development of functional foods that promote better health outcomes. Outside of university, I enjoy exploring local cafés, playing basketball, and spending time with friends.

What is your role within the MGAEC, and what are you hoping to achieve over your term in office?

As a General Representative on the MGAEC, I work alongside a passionate team to support the needs and interests of graduate students. My aim is to help foster a more inclusive, supportive, and engaging community by contributing to student events, listening to feedback, and advocating for improvements in the graduate experience. I hope to use my voice and perspective to ensure every student feels heard, connected, and valued.

What motivated you to join the executive committee? What drives you to make a difference in your graduate student community?

I joined the MGAEC because I wanted to give back to the community that helped me feel at home when I first arrived in Melbourne. Transitioning to a new environment as a postgraduate student can be overwhelming, and I believe that peer support and inclusive events can make a real difference. Being part of the MGA gives me the opportunity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and help shape a positive, welcoming experience for all. What drives me is the belief that even small efforts can create a meaningful impact.
