The learn more about this position, read the extract from the MGA Constitution.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your area of study?

My name is Yidi Luan, and I am a second-year Master of Global Business and Master of Advanced Finance student. My academic journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Economics in China. To deepen my understanding of how finance impacts real-world companies, I chose Monash University for its practical courses. My studies focus on corporate financing and investment activities in the microeconomic field, as well as business operations, trade policies, and strategies from an international perspective. In my leisure time, I enjoy singing, reading online novels, and cooking.

What is your role within the MGAEC, and what are you hoping to achieve over your term in office?

As a member of MGAEC, I am dedicated to understanding and addressing the concerns of postgraduate and PhD students across various aspects of their academic and personal lives. My role involves representing their voices, delivering feedback during MGAEC meetings, and working to enhance the overall student experience. I also assist with the setup and operation of MGA events, helping to create engaging experiences and encouraging more students to participate and connect.

Additionally, as the Caulfield Rep, I aim to support Caulfield campus students by listening to their concerns and advocating for their needs. My goal is to help them navigate these challenges by organizing events that support their academic, social, and personal development.

I also plan to create opportunities for networking and personal growth by hosting social events and sharing sessions where students can connect, exchange experiences, and support one another.

What motivated you to join the executive committee? What drives you to make a difference in your graduate student community?

When I first arrived on campus, I knew very little about the university. MGA organized many events and gave me opportunities to volunteer. The staff and volunteers were incredibly friendly and supportive, creating a welcoming environment where I could make friends, explore campus life, and seek advisory help. They even provided a 24-hour space to support student learning.

This support and experience made me feel more comfortable and confident. I want to represent the voices of all students while sharing my experiences to help more students learn about MGA. I hope they can enjoy the resources and services MGA offers and create meaningful memories with MGA and Monash.
