Contribute to the wonderful work of the MGA!

The MGA Executive Committee office-bearers lead advisory groups to better understand the needs and interests of graduate students. These groups help shape decisions around events, activities, and key issues each semester. They also provide an opportunity for broader student engagement and peer connection.

Each advisory group will work closely with a specific office bearer or campus representative, providing feedback, ideas and insights relevant to their portfolio area. The groups are expected to:

  • provide feedback on issues or initiatives affecting graduate students
  • help identify priorities for MGA programs and advocacy
  • support the planning and delivery of events or campaigns
  • meet periodically (frequency to be determined by each Office Bearer)

Advisory groups that are available:

  • international students
  • queer students
  • graduate research students (PhD and Master by Research students)
  • graduate coursework students
  • women's portfolio
  • campus based (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula and Parkville)

Eligibility:

You must be a currently enrolled Monash graduate student. No prior experience is required - just a passion for improving the graduate student experience in your area of interest.

Interested? Submit your expression of interest (EOI) by Friday, 16 August 2025.

Work for the MGA

The MGA employs Monash graduate students to fill the receptionist roles at the Clayton and Caulfield offices. When a vacancy arises we advertise the position through our email newsletter and on our website.

The Monash Graduate Association (MGA) is the representative body for all graduate research and coursework students enrolled at Monash University. So, what sets us apart from the University services? The MGA is an independent, not-for-profit association governed by graduate students, for graduate students. Our primary aim is to be there for you! If you can’t find what you are looking for, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
