Monash University Microbiology Postgrad Society (MUMPS)

Our society aims to enrich the social, professional and collegial work environments within the dept. of Microbiology by hosting events that allow our staff and students to take a break from work, get to know one another, and have fun!

We run various social and academic events throughout the year that are open to both staff and students within the dept. of Microbiology. 

Some events we host throughout the year include:

• Monthly Coffee tours across various Cafes at Monash University’s Clayton campus

• Annual Hot Cross Bun Drive and Morning Tea

• Monthly Journal Club

• Trivia and Game Nights 

• Annual Honours Student Welcome Event

• Informal morning teas and pizza dinners 

Biannually, MUMPS also provides the opportunity for the postgraduate students from various labs to showcase their fantastic research through our Microbiology Student Symposium. 

We recently introduced the “MUMPS Monthly” newsletter to inform everyone of all upcoming conferences and acknowledge every postgraduate student’s achievements and milestones. Each year MUMPS elects a student committee to oversee the various social and academic events.
