LATEST UPDATE: As of Wednesday, 4 February, Struan House's graduate lounge is now open to students after receiving a minor refresh over the holiday break. A brand-new HDR lounge for HDR students will also be opening soon - stay tuned!
The graduate lounge at Peninsula's Struan House is set to receive a fresh upgrade, with a small refurbishment planned to enhance comfort and functionality for all graduate students who use the space.
Works will begin on Monday, 24 November, and are scheduled for completion before the commencement of Semester 1. While the refurbishment is underway, students can access a temporary lounge and working space in rooms S105 and S106. A detailed schedule of works can be found below.
Monday, 24 November to Wednesday, 26 November
From Thursday, 27 November
- Temporary study spaces available in office rooms opposite the graduate lounge
Monday, 24 November to Friday, 28 November - Electrical works ⚡️
- There will be intermittent power outages (mostly early in the day)
- We encourage you to save your work regularly and switch off computers overnight
Monday, 1 December to Friday, 5 December - Painting and Vinyl works 🎨
- There will be strong odours and increased disruption expected
- Vinyl replacement works may be noisy
- Please plan ahead if you are sensitive to smells
Thursday, 4 December to Friday, 5 December - Kitchen Access ⛔️
- Kitchen will be unavailable due to vinyl works
During this period, the MGA office located in Struan House will be closed. If you require assistance or information, you can still reach us via email at mga@monash.edu.
The newly refurbished lounge is expected to reopen in January 2026.
