As the year comes to a close, we thought we'd take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of the MGA's biggest events and unforgettable moments in 2025.

The MGA was thrilled to have such a successful year of events, with at least 3 thousand students attending over 500 events! This covers everything from Orientation to pop-up grocers to field trips that we’ve taken students on.
And while we had such great engagement with our students on Clayton and Caulfield, we were delighted this year to reach more of our students at smaller campuses like Parkville, Peninsula, Law Chambers and the Alfred. This year was a real turning point for delivering events on those smaller campuses and bringing those students into our wider graduate student community. We look forward to doing even more with you next year!
We could go on about each event and what made it so special, but instead we asked you! Below are some quotes from students about what they most enjoyed about MGA life in 2025.
On the MGA lounge and spaces…
"MGA spaces are the most relaxed and amazing places in uni to make new friends and get to know about events going on in the university. The volunteers and ambassadors are super friendly and helpful. Love the free groceries and goodies!!"
On regular events…
"I love the events MGA hosts weekly. Some being new, some being standard every week, they’re all great. Especially the events providing free groceries/meals etc. to students is so kind and really really really helps most students. There are things I have not bought myself since moving to Melbourne and that I only have when I get to take it during the free pop-up grocers because they’re too expensive for me in the grocery stores. The yoga sessions are lovely too. Thanks for everything!"
On pop-up grocers…
"This event is awesome. Free groceries! It helped students get through for a week in times of financial hardship. Keep doing it!"
On free lunches…
"Thank you so much for organising the free lunch event. I really appreciated the delicious food and the chance to connect with colleagues. The food was excellent, and the effort put into organising it did not go unnoticed. Thank you for this thoughtful initiative."
On grab-and-go dinners…
"The idea of using a recyclable container is great. It's good to see MGA helping with environmental sustainability!"
On the Mornington Peninsula trip…
"It was a great experience! MGA provided us with snacks and drinks throughout the trip. The staff was very conscientious and always took attendance. They also helped take photos during the activities. Thank you so much! I look forward to the next event."
On the Melbourne Zoo trip…
"My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this event. I attended with my 12-year-old daughter, 8-year-old son, and mother-in-law. It was well worth the price, especially with transport provided to and from Clayton campus and lunch provided. Lunch was excellent, and we particularly loved the sushi. In fact, the kids preferred the adult lunch options over the children's menu. The event was well organised and smoothly run. We're already looking forward to the next MGA event."
On volunteering with the MGA…
"As a volunteer, I was so blessed to take part in that event. It has been very exciting to see fellow graduate students during our busy times. The MGA staff and volunteer leaders were very professional and were ready to teach and share their best knowledge and experiences. I like to be a volunteer. Thanks so much."
Running a wide variety of events across different campuses to address different needs is one of the core operations of the MGA. We are so happy to have enjoyed such a great year with youand we’re looking forward to the next!
