The month of October kicked off with some healthy competition, as a whopping 106 graduate students took to the court for the MGA’s annual badminton tournament, rallying to claim the top prize. In fact, the tournament had to continue the following week because the fun couldn't be limited to just one day!
The much-anticipated event comprised of men’s, women’s and mixed doubles matches at Monash Sport on the Clayton campus. Strategy was key, with competitors mapping out each move well in advance to increase their chances.
Of course, everyone’s a winner. But we would like to make special mention of the following superstars:
Women’s doubles
Winners: Neharika and Dhanashree
Runners up: Yixuan and Jiarong
Men’s doubles
Winners: Aahil and Joesph
Runners up: Suraj and Niven
Mixed doubles
Winners: Desmond and Melissa
Runners up: Mithilesh and Neharika
Students who came to play or just to watch seemed to appreciate the much-needed break from study and opportunity to get moving. We'd also like to thank our wonderful MGA volunteers who kept the games rolling by umpiring, scorekeeping, as well as serving food and a positive attitude!
