Think permanent residency is a must-have for employment? Think again. In this panel session, alumni who’ve successfully launched careers without PR share their experiences, strategies, and tips. Advisors from Careers & Employability will also provide guidance on where to look and how to position yourself to secure a job! Don't miss this myth-busting, opportunity-filled conversation.
This session will start promptly at 5:05pm with a welcome by Naish (Careers & Employability), followed by a 1 hour panel discussion (Q&A), and then a 20 minute talk by Ying from Migration Support Hub. There will be time for networking over food and drink at the end of the session.
Registrations required. This session will NOT be recorded.
PANELIST DETAILS:

MARYAM AZME
Maryam Azme is a Medical Scientist at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where she works on a range of clinical trials. In the past, she also worked for three years in a diagnostic laboratory in Saudi Arabia. She completed her Bachelor's degree at Monash University Malaysia, and her Masters degree at Monash University Clayton. In addition to her routine work, she enjoys training both students and new employeers. In her free time, Maryam enjoys crocheting while watching true crime documentaries.

AYUSHI DAGA
Ayushi is a Monash MPH graduate and founder of PHuture Ready, who secured her first role before the last semester ended. She brings extensive experience from remote health environments across the Northern Territory and Victoria, navigating the professional landscape without PR. A passionate advocate for graduate employability, she now focuses on empowering international students to transition into meaningful health careers.

KINJAL PATEL
Kinjal Patel is a Data and AI specialist experienced in machine learning, NLP, and large language model (LLM) applications. Recognised as a LinkedIn Top Voice in AI, ML, and Data Science, she combines technical expertise with a strong focus on applied data science for real-world problem-solving.

KUSHAL SAINI
Kushal Saini has been working as a laboratory technician at a milk company in Geelong since early 2024. Originally from Patiala in Punjab, India, he moved to Melbourne after completing a Bachelor of Biotechnology to pursue a Master of Biomedical and Health Sciences at Monash University, which he completed in December 2023. During his time at Monash, Kushal was actively involved with the Monash Graduate Association, volunteering and building strong connections within the community. He has since had a positive and rewarding experience transitioning from student life into the workforce.

ROBERTO TORRES ARECHEDERRA
Roberto is a Master of Business graduate, majoring in Supply Chain Management, who began his Cleanaway journey through two Monash internship placements during his final semesters in 2019. He has since progressed through Procurement Specialist and Procurement Manager roles to become Senior Procurement Manager, leading major procurement and supply chain initiatives across Cleanaway’s Australian operations. Roberto was also involved in the LIVE program, mentoring students from Monash, RMIT and the University of Melbourne by sharing industry experience and supporting their transition into professional careers.

Talk by YING XU (MGA Advocacy Manager and Migration Support Hub Lead)
The Migration Support Hub will introduce its consultation support services and dive straight into the latest 2026 visa regulations and policies. We will cover current student visa work limits and compliance tips, break down the latest Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visa updates, and explore non-PR work visa options alongside a brief outlook on General Skilled Migration.
