Looking for a quiet place to sit and write? We have a limited number of HDR writing rooms available on the Caulfield campus.
On top of the new lounge for all Peninsula-based grads, room S101 of Struan House has a new dedicated space exclusively for research students!
Navigating a research degree can be challenging. The MGA has a number of different support guides with tailor-made resources to support you.
The MGA is currently advocating for an increase to the RTP stipend rate, aligned with the minimum wage and informed by a framework similar to the lobbying efforts undertaken in 2024.
As part of this ongoing work, our HDR students have also made a formal submission to the University calling for renewed efforts in this area, drawing on key findings from recent graduate student satisfaction surveys. You can read the full proposal here.
Nominations are now open for our annual Supervisor of the Year (SOTY) awards! These awards celebrate the research supervisors who have made a meaningful impact on your university experience through their dedication, support, mentorship, and commitment to student success.
Submit your nomination to help us celebrate the outstanding academic staff members via the nomination form here.
Meet Kalani, the MGA's research education officer! Kalani serves on our Executive Committee as the representative of all things pertaining to research students. Learn more about Kalani and her role, or get in touch with her here.
Are you a graduate student balancing the challenges of study and parenting? Join the MGA for a relaxed social catch-up, designed especially for graduate student parents! Join the MGA on the first Wednesday of every month for a relaxed social catch-up, designed especially for graduate student parents! The next one will be on Wednesday, 3 September and you can find future catch-ups on our what’s on page. We also have a family meeting room at Caulfield, which you can book for when it’s your turn to mind the kids but you really need to get that assignment or thesis chapter finished.
Sports and recreation
The MGA runs a number of social sports and recreation activities for all graduate students, including soccer, table tennis, yoga and badminton. Details for each can be found on our what’s on page.
