MGA Supervisor of the Year Award (SOTY) Nomination Form
Recognising excellence in research supervision practice

Here is some important information to know before submitting a nomination.
Nomination form:
The nomination form is broken down into 6 sections:
Section 1 - Details of the supervisor you wish to nominate (one supervisor per application).
Section 2 - Details of the student/student group completing the nomination.
Section 3 - Describe the supervisor's academic contribution in relation to the PhD/Masters by Research.
Section 4 - Describe the supervisor's management of the PhD/Masters by Research.
Section 5 - Describe the support your supervisor has provided throughout the PhD/Masters by Research.
Section 6 - Open comment.
Judging:
Entries will be judged by a subcommittee of research graduates from the MGAEC.
Announcement of the winner:
The MGA Supervisor of the Year Award will be announced in Nov/Dec, with the exact time and date of the presentation to be determined by the availability of the nominator and winning supervisor. The Supervisor of the Year will receive a framed certificate, is permanently listed on the MGA Supervisor of the Year Hall of Fame and will be featured in an article in the MGA fortnightly newsletter.
Since 2024, the MGA has introduced a Special Commendation Award based on the feedback received from the panel of student judges and graduate research students in general. As the number of nominations grew significantly over the years, the students wanted another way to recognise and honour the incredible contributions of the supervisors at Monash.
Applications open: Monday, 8 June 2026 9:00AM AEST
Applications close: Monday, 5 October 2026 5:00PM AEST
