Highlights from 2026 Battle of the Brains

Read on to find out what went down at our infamous annual HDR Trivia Night.

Published Date 13/07/2026

For the last several years, representatives from Monash's Faculty of Science appeared to be unbeatable at the MGA's annual Battle of the Brains.

But in 2026, contenders from other departments across the University came in guns blazing to claim the top prize.

On a winter evening at the Clayton campus, quiz masters Bon and Paris kicked off the competition. Between laughter, drinks, snacks and games, it became clear that there were two teams most likely to walk away victorious. Reviewer 5000 (Faculty of Arts) and Your mum et al 2026 (multi-faculty dynamite) went head-to-head.

Before the big announcement, Reviewer 500 even became convinced that they'd be robbed of points, they asked the quiz masters to take another look. It turned out they had no cause for worry because the winner was...

The Faculty of Art's Reviewer 500! This brand new team came in to steal the show from the STEM lords of trivia nights gone by and usher in a new era for the Battle of the Brains.

Your mum et al 2026 were still crowned in silver, coming in as a close second to the winners of the night.

The prize for best team name went to Theory of Relatrivia (Faculty of Engineering).

We'd like to thank our quiz masters for leading the charge and creating an atmosphere that all teams who competed enjoyed tremendously. Drinks were pouring, pizza was eaten and many laughs were shared.
