Background
Hi there! I’m completing a Masters of Arts (Research Training) in Historical Studies.
Before this I spent 6 years completing an undergraduate in Chinese and Asian Studies – part-time, full-time, online, the whole gamut. As a previous and active member of the Mature-Age and Part-time Student Association Executive Committee for several years, I learned the value of being involved in community-building and student advocacy.
I’m excited to be a part of the MGAEC throughout my graduate student life. I am particularly interested in supporting students in non-orthodox modes of study, such as but not limited to long-distance students (including those still outside of Australia); part-time students; students simultaneously working full-time; and students who are also parents.
These experiences are very close to my heart and I want to create space and support for students who struggle to maintain their commitment to study in a contemporary, globalised, and increasingly neoliberal workplace culture. I am also very excited to introduce cross-disciplinary dialogue and discussion amongst graduate students. I believe that only good can come out of training and knowledge beyond one’s own discipline.
I plan to organise events that facilitate such cross-fertilisation of ideas for the benefit of the graduate student experience and, hopefully, career opportunities beyond graduation.
Personal Interests
My personal interests include amateur boxing and sleeping.
