Background

I enrolled for the Joint PhD Program between Monash University and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2019. My main area of research is in Surgical Robotics. I am working on developing a robotic system for Pediatric Surgery.

Prior to joining the PhD Program, I worked extensively in Industrial and Academic Research groups catering to Precision Manufacturing and Robotics. I completed my Masters in Computer Integrated Manufacturing from Anna University Chennai, ranking second in my university in 2015.

I finished my Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from University of Calicut in 2012, followed by a brief stint in teaching Diploma students (equivalent to TAFE Courses) in Mechanical Engineering at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda until I enrolled for the Masters Degree.

During my study period at IIT Bombay as a part of the Joint PhD Program, I was elected as the General Secretary of Academic Affairs (Postgraduate) by the graduate student community at IIT Bombay. As a part of the role, I was the student representative to the Senate of IIT Bombay, which is the highest decision-making body of IITB. During this tenure I was instrumental in maintaining the standards of COVID safety of IIT Bombay Campus to high standards. As a result of which IITBombay had the safest COVID situation, in spite of being in the heart of one of the most COVID-affected cities of India. The experience gained during this period has increased my aspirations for community volunteering and development.

I joined the MGAEC wishing to do my best to help the graduate student community. I will be working collectively with the MGAEC to solve some major and minor bottlenecks and pain points for graduate students. I plan to gradually improve the participation and awareness of Monash graduate students about their opportunities and rights, enabled through the capabilities of MGA.

Personal Interests

I love cycling, often riding along the wonderful beach tracks in Melbourne. In order to preserve my sanity and not become a nerd, I love to binge watch some awesome web series, movies and other motion picture genres. I aspire to learn one musical instrument soon and perform it live in front of an audience someday. Cooking and eating are my other passions and I look forward to learning more dishes from my Monash Friends.
