MGA Advocacy: Back to Basics

Do you know what your leave entitlements are as an HDR student?
We understand that a lot of research students at Monash started their candidature during the pandemic and may have missed the orientation sessions that covered the administrative requirements and entitlements for your degree.
For example: Did you know you are entitled to 5 working days of parental leave, which is within the tenure of most awards? There are some conditions, but it is well worth knowing what you are entitled to.
You are also entitled to take up to 12 months of unpaid leave – although this can be reduced by any leave you may have already taken.

Do you have any questions about your leave entitlements?
No matter how complicated your situation might be, or how basic your query is, our MGA advocates are happy to help you. We believe that there is no such thing as a silly question and can offer you expert advice and support on all kinds of University policies and entitlements for graduate students.
This is a free service. The MGA is independent from the University and all matters discussed with an advocate are confidential.
