The MGA Executive Committee governs the Monash Graduate Association by setting policy and providing broad direction. The committee’s aims are to serve the interests and welfare of graduate students at Monash by directing activities and projects towards their specific needs.

Does this sound like something you would like to be part of?

  • someone with good ideas, initiative and drive;

  • willing to make important decisions and want your voice heard at a university level; 

  • passionate about making a difference within the graduate student community; and

  • a commitment to attending all of the

The MGA is seeking to co-opt a graduate student into the role of Queer Officer on the MGA Executive Committee (MGAEC).

 

Current Opportunities

Queer Officer

The Queer Officer is responsible for liaising with the appropriate bodies in relation to issues pertaining to LGBTQIA+ graduates of Monash University, ensuring that the concerns of LGBTQIA+ graduates are brought to the attention of the MGAEC, as well as convening and chairing an advisory group of LGBTQIA+ graduates.. More details about the role and responsibilities can be found in the MGA Constitution.

Term of office

The successful applicant will hold office until 30 June 2027.

MGAEC meeting attendance

Before being considered for co-option, applicants are required to attend an MGAEC meeting as an observer. The date of the next meeting is still being finalised but is expected to be held in late August.

  • Applicants must identify as LGBTIQA+ to be eligible for this position.
  • For more information about serving on the MGAEC, including the expected time commitment, applicants can refer to the Executive Committee FAQ.
  • Co-options are considered and approved by the MGAEC. The successful applicant will receive an induction and training to support them in the role.
