The MGA ‘Supervisor of the Year’ and ‘Lecturer of the Year’ awards were created to acknowledge excellence in research supervision practice and graduate teaching. These awards are truly a decision of the graduate student community, as each entry is judged by an independent committee of graduate students.
Lecturer of the Year Award
The MGA Lecturer of the Year award was created to recognise and celebrate excellence in graduate teaching. The inaugural award was created in 2012 in response to numerous requests from coursework students, who wanted the chance to acknowledge the teachers who had been a major inspiration throughout their time at Monash.
Supervisor of the Year Award
The MGA Supervisor of the Year Award, established in 1992, was created to acknowledge excellence in research supervision practice, and is truly a decision of the graduate student community. The award was recently featured in peer-reviewed journal Innovations in Education and Teaching International, where it was recognised as the longest running award of its kind, putting Monash University and Australia ahead of the UK with regards to student-led supervisor awards.
