Can you tell us a bit about yourself, your background and your area of study?

I am currently pursuing a Master of Data Science at Monash University, Clayton, Melbourne, with a keen interest in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. My passion lies in exploring AI-driven solutions to solve real-world problems. I hold an engineering degree from India and bring four years of professional experience in business reporting, data analytics and insight generation.

Beyond academics and work, I have actively contributed as a student representative, collaborating with university faculty executives to conceptualize, organize and execute events for the student cohort. During my corporate tenure, I also played a key role in fostering cross-department engagement as well as planning and managing cultural and social events. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton and occasionally indulge in other sports like table tennis and billiards.

What is your role within the MGAEC, and what are you hoping to achieve over your term in office?

As a General Representative of the Monash Graduate Association Executive Committee (MGAEC), my focus is on advocating for the interests and well-being of graduate students ensuring their voices are represented in key university decisions. Throughout my term, I aim to enhance student engagement by strengthening communication between the MGA and graduate students through interactive events, workshops and networking opportunities. I am committed to improving support services by advocating for better academic, mental health and career resources tailored to graduate students' unique needs.

Additionally, I strive to foster inclusivity by supporting initiatives that address challenges faced by diverse student groups, including international, LGBTQIA+ and Indigenous students. Ensuring effective resource allocation is also a priority, contributing to decisions on how MGA funds are utilized to maximize student benefits. Lastly, I aim to strengthen campus representation by working closely with representatives to address location-specific concerns and improve the student experience across Monash’s Victorian campuses.

What motivated you to join the executive committee? What drives you to make a difference in your graduate student community?

My decision to join the MGAEC was driven by a deep-seated commitment to student advocacy and a desire to enrich the graduate student experience beyond the confines of academia. Having previously served as a student representative, I gained invaluable insight into the transformative power of a well-connected, supportive student community - one that fosters both intellectual and personal growth. This realization compelled me to take on a more proactive role in shaping policies and initiatives that directly impact postgraduate students. What truly motivates me is the prospect of effecting meaningful and lasting change within the student body. By serving on this committee, I seek to bridge the gap between students and university leadership, ensuring that institutional decisions are reflective of the diverse needs and aspirations of the postgraduate cohort.
